In 2000 I  started getting interested in how live work might be documented.Since then I’ve developed various different approaches, including different kinds of adaptations you can see here.. For a work performed in the round it was right to do a continuity edit but use 7 cameras. Here’s an excerpt from We Will Hear the Angels for Magnetic North.

A document might be an adaptation and here is a more impressionistic version of a document. Wipe Out was an early work that played with plunging an audience into darkness, the document below catches the moments just before Rowan Gillespie disappears. Camera is by Martin Singleton and edit Ian Ballantyne.

Edges is a document of a live dance improvisation,the dancers are Carrie Whittaker and Abi Mortimer (Lila Dance), Rob Daniels (Bootworks)and Andrew Wilford. Camera is by Hugh Fairs and the edit is by Ian Ballantyne. Edges was initally developed as part of a Rough Mix residency in 2007.
